My story starts when I was in the fifth grade and my friend asked if I wanted to take a Judo class with him that was starting that Saturday at the local Boys Club. That was 1977 and I was 12. As you can guess I said yes. The funny thing is I was very small, shy, and stuttered. So why I agreed to go is still a mystery to me.

The very first thing we where taught was to find our Chi (our center), to use our breath to focus our Chi. This to me was amazing! It calmed me down, quieted my mind and greatly reduced my stutter. At 12 years old I had no clue about any of this. I just knew I felt really really good. I found out some 35 years later that I have Aspergers Syndrome and that finding my Chi did truly center me.

As I progressed in the art my Sensei start to notice my ability to find my opponents weakness. He asked how and what I was doing. I could not answer him, it was just something I did. Over the next few months, he kicked my ass in every class (in a good way). He chose me to demonstrate, had me do the demonstrations, would blindfold me or have me close my eyes when I spared with him or other higher-ranking belts. After each session, he would sit me down after class and talk to me about what I was feeling on the mat when I couldn’t see. All along he knew what I was doing and how I was doing it. He was guiding me to understanding.

Then all of a sudden it hit me! Unfortunately, it was during a match and that realization caused me to hesitate and I got thrown (it was a beautiful hip throw) and lost the match. I got up bowed and turned to see my Sensei smiling at me.

He said, “Well?”

I said,” It’s there Chi!”

He said “Yep!”

In 1980 I started lifting weights to get better at Judo and in 1983 the steel beat out the mat. This was the beginning of my coaching journey. I started training people at the local gym at the age of 16 and I really have never stopped.

I wasn’t until years later when I was in college and became a Certified Massage Therapist to help me pay for school and to learn more about the muscles, that I realized that this gift I have isn’t just a weapon. It is actually not a weapon at all but a way to heal!

Now the bummer part of the story. Treating people made me very sick. I could not dispel the bad energy I was taking from them. I tried every grounding technique out there. Nothing worked. So after a couple of years, I had to stop treating people.

Then in 1998, I started my own training business. Since I was the boss I could do what needed to be done to get my clients healthier faster. So I started treating again. Very fast releases, activations, and energy work. Nothing that would hurt me. Then in 2008 a client I dearly love was going through a very hard time. Her stress was causing too many issues to list. So I decided to get her on the table (yes I had to buy a table since I had gotten rid of mine years ago). I will admit flat out, I was scared! Some of the energy I had gotten stuck with I called toxic goo.

The energy I was taking on from her was horrible. It was all her pain, anger, hurt, and sadness.

Here is what I learned that day. I still do not have the ability to ground. But more importantly, love shields me! My love for this person kept me safe. It was a very surreal experience, the only way for me to describe it is love was literally converting the toxic goo to love and light. I worked on her for over two hours and I was so energized from the work.

I later learned that this is rare. That I can only get that type of shielding if I am working on someone I truly love. And yes I learned this the hard way. After getting my self sick again I started seeking out ways to treat that where fast, efficient, and safe for me.

Over the years I have developed my own style of treatment with the Chi at the heart. It has done me well for over a decade. But it is too “see the problem, fix the problem” It is not that I don’t ask why this problem started and where it started. That part I do through movement. Here is an example of how it works:

A client comes in.

I watch them walk in.

If I can’t see any issues in their gate I run an assessment on them.

If an issue arises I treat it and start the proper movement patterns to address the issue and its cause.

It works. It works very well. But it takes time to fix a movement pattern. And if the client continues the bad movement pattern when they are away from me this is a very long process.

I have used part of Be Activated in the past (didn’t know I was). So when I can across RPR it was so darn familiar. I got my RPR Level 1 Certificate but I wanted more. With the world being shut down I reached out to RPR and they told me about Douglas Heel. They said to look up his Youtube since he was the father of RPR and the creator of Be Activated. So Google I did!

Everything happens for a reason. I found Be Activated at almost the same instant Douglas launched the online courses! I was literally the first one to see them. I had no idea which course to take so I emailed the website, and I kid you not, within 20 minutes Douglas himself emailed me back! He got me all squared away and I consumed those course in record time! I seriously could not stop watching them!

I already started teaching RPR to our clients. So I started Activating clients after the first course. Then I started Activating them better after the second course. I had to slow down and curb my excitement so I could see and hear their stories. If you’re not getting their story you aren’t going to see all the sneaky cheats. I all so had to put my style of treatment on the shelf for now. I can already see a way to integrate it into Be Activated, but to be 100% honest I do not think I will need to. It will be used for acute trauma that was not due to implosion.

In closing, I want to mention the stories. I have been noticing if I just treat I get drained. So no grounding or shielding in happening. Having Aspergers makes me tend to focus on just the task at hand. When I take the time to hear and see their story I do not feel drained. The funny part is, the story doesn’t take extra time. It takes extra care. Which means love. And love is the only way I know to shield.
